A Lot About Litter

The cat owner has a variety of litter choices, and there's surely one to fit your needs.

How Much Litter Should Be Used?

You should use enough litter in the pan to allow your cat to sufficiently cover any waste it leaves. Cats don't like to feel the bottom of a litter pan when they're burying their waste. Give your cat at least a 2-inch base of litter.

How Often Litter Should Be Changed?

Waste should be discarded from a litter box on a daily basis. This will keep odors and bacterial growth to a minimum. Most cats will not use a dirty litter box, and may resort to eliminating elsewhere if this is the case. Use of the litter box will be encouraged if it is kept clean and free from waste.

The Scratching Woes!  What can be done??
Scratching is a normal feline behavior. The difficult part is training them to use something other than furniture. The best choice is to offer a sturdy scratching post from the time your pet is a kitten. Many cats will be attracted to scratching posts that have been rubbed with cat nip.
Older cats that have developed a furniture damaging habit will be harder to train to a post, but can still learn.

GOOD HEALTH!

Supplements ..when do they need them!

Types of supplements:

Should a cat be given additional vitamin supplements?

Cats generally require higher levels of B vitamins than dogs. A deficiency in these vitamins can cause anemia, poor hair coat and lack of appetite. Unlike dogs, cats also require turine, an essential amino acid. A deficiency in taurin can lead to reproductive problems and blindness. However, premium foods that are designed for kitten growth and feline maintenance supply all the needed vitamins and minerals to sustain normal growth, provided the kitten or cat eats it well. It is always best to consult a veterinarian before feeding any supplements to your pet.

Conditions when supplementation would be recommended:

Never give supplement to your pet if you are not sure CONTACT YOUR VET!.
